NEXT ROUND: Round 1 - Feb. 26, 2012 - Cutler, Ohio  Trackside Weather

 TEAM MOVHS ATV's - Millfield Ohio  June 5, 2010

We started off Saturday with the Youth ATV's. We had Sydney Sams on the Girls 8-15 line and Rylan Hamilton on the 90 Modified (8-11) line. Sydney got off to a good start, she came through 12th on her 1st lap. She was just getting a feel for the track on her 2nd lap and her back brake caliper locked up on her. Rylan got off to a good start also, he came through on his first lap in 12th place. On his 2nd lap through he managed to work himself up to 8th place. He went on to finish in 6th place in his class and 22nd overall.
In the AM ATV's we had Carl Lewis in 36+C, Tylor Coplin in Sportsman A/B, Torren Johnson in Schoolboy (13-15) Novice, Tyler Reed in 16-19 C, and Rick Sams in First Year racer 25+..
Tyler Reed was first to take off in the 16-19C class. He was off to a good start until he hit the 3rd turn on the motocross track and his quad took a tumble, he quickly recovered and got right back on his quad and took off into the woods. He came through the MOVHS pits with a bent tie rod, we quickly got him up and running, and he came through scoring on his first lap in 25th. The tie rod did not hold up so he was unable to finish the race.
Next to take off was Carl Lewis. He went into the woods 4th and on his first lap he was 2nd in his class. He battled with first place for 4 laps and on his fifth lap he took the victory in his class to come out in first place and 29th overall out of 268 racers.
Rick Sams was 3rd to take off the line in the First Year Racer 25+ class. He went into the woods dead last on the start of his race, caused by troubles with the quad starting on the line. The MOVHS pit crew ran quickly over to him and got him off and running. He came through on his first lap in 4th place out of 7 racers. On his second lap he took a turn too quickly and lost control of the quad and broke the steering stem. Our MOVHS film crew, KAWI Racer Productions has this on film. I cant wait to see this released. Luckily he wasn't hurt and maybe he will be back for Snow Shoe.
Tylor Coplin was next off of the line in the Sportsman A/B class. He came through on his first lap in 28th place. On his 2nd lap he was in 21st place and battled his way to a 16th place finish out of 32 racers in his class.
Last off the line for Team MOVHS in the AM ATV's was Torren Johnson in the Schoolboy Novice 13-15 class. Torren kept a pretty even pace throughout his entire race. He had first place in his sights but ended his race with a 2nd place finish in his class.

In the afternoon ATV's Team MOVHS had Scott Owens and Dustin Pigott in JR A 22+. Tyler Gilbert in College B 16-21. The afternoon class was on the line and we got a HUGE downpour. They all were completely drenched and the start was delayed by an hour. These guys definitely had a rough track going into this, with the rain that just added to the complexity of this track.
First to take off was Scott Owens and Dustin Pigott on the Junior A 22+ line. Scott was doing very well and he had caught up to most of the XC 2 line and he had a brake malfunction and unfortunately had to call it quits. Dustin got off to a great start off the line and kept a very even pace throughout his race. He was able to pull off 14th out of 27 in his class.
Tyler Gilbert was last to take off for Team MOVHS on the College B 16-21 class. Tyler had done very well. He went into the woods in 3rd place. He came through the MOVHS pits 3 times 2 of those times he got fresh gloves and goggles. We are not sure what Tylers finish is, as he somehow did not get completely registered. He got his number and tape for his class at registration along with his transponder, but did not get into the registration system somehow. GNCC says that it will be corrected and should be updated with in the week.

WAY TO GO TEAM MOVHS! WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU ALL AND CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SNOWSHOE!

We also had some other dedicated MOVHS racers out there in the ATV classes you all may recognize. Saturday in the Youth ATV's there was Colton Melrose, Megan Melrose, and Sam Cogar in the 70 CVT (6-11) class. Derick Kemper in the 90 Modified (12-15) class. In the ATV AM class there was Kevan Logston in Sportsman A/B, Eric Pifer in Sportsman A/B, Brad Pearson in Schoolboy (13-15) NOVICE, Jesse Barr in 20+ C, Steve Kiggins in 36+C, and Shawn Vannoy in First Year Racer.
In the youth ATV category there was Sam Cogar who finished with 3rd place, Colton Melrose 5th place finish, and Megan Melrose a 7th place finish in the 70 CVT (6-11) class. Derick Kemper who races Youth Bike at MOVHS shows his versatility as he raced the 90 Modified ATV 12-15 class at Millfield on a Pitster Pro. Derick finished 2nd in his class and 2nd overall. Way to go Derick!
In the ATV AM category Steve Kiggins also showed some versatility as he is accustomed to riding Dirt Bikes not ATV's. He raced in the 36+C class and got 23rd in his class. Jesse Barr went home with a 12th place finish in the 20+C class. Shawn Vannoy raced in the First Year Racer (16-24) he finished in 2nd place out of 10 racers. Way to go Shawn I am sure your dad is proud!
Kevan Logston went home with a 8th place finish in the Sportsman A/B class out of 32, and Eric Pifer 22nd in the Sportsman A/B class. Brad Pearson raced in the Schoolboy (13-15) novice. Brad got off to a good start and then he had a unfortunate mishap with his sprocket and was unable to finish the race. Bill Parker, a MOVHS regular was out there in the 4x4 lites class. Bill did an outstanding job handling his machine and came home with 4th place in his class!
In the PM ATV's we had James Green in the VetA 30 class. WOW....... What a race from James. He confused us a little bit out there on a Suzuki instead of his usual Honda. He showed us that he can handle any make of machine. James got better and better every lap. He had the fastest lap in his class. He finished 2nd in his class and 35th overall out of 169 racers. Way to go James! Watch out this Sunday boys for James Green!
Jimmy Mercer of DTM Powersports was out there Saturday with his new toy. He entered the UTV Open Limited class as Team Devin. He got 5th place out of 11. Way to go guys!

Team MOVHS all had a great time and will be back for Snowshoe. Anyone that wants to pit with us or camp by us, just get ahold of us. See you at Snowshoe!

*If we missed anyone it was not intentional, please just send us an email and we will post it on here.

Sincerely,

  Rick Sams
